No, several manufacturers built them before, usually as
budget lenses. They are slow glass, and handling is not
too perfect with those small things. If AF is your way,
you might do with it.

They could in theory be very good, because of the slow glass
and the simple construction. But then they usually were budget
lenses.... borrow one and find out for yourselves.

Because 2.8 starting aperture is like sitting in the dark
in comparison. And I don't see 45 mm pancakes being sold
that much cheaper than a 1.8/50 mm standard lens.
In my opinion this child is born braindead.
