Hi Dieter,
I have the Ec-D. It is nice, though the center cross point doesn't
align with the center focus point which kind of annoys me. I have
always used grid screens, so I can't really tell you if it is
distracting; it isn't to me. I really don't even see it unless I need
it. It does help keep horizons straight and can be useful for
composiing as well. My only complaint is that it isn't easy to see the
lines in lower light work. It is as if they weren't etched deeply enough
compared to my old Pentax LX or 645n.
Also, it is not the newer type screen (Maybe old laser matte compared to
laser matte new?). In any case, it isn't quite as bright, though you
would probably never notice. It is also much easier to judge manual
focus. The older style matte causes objects to "pop" into or out of
focus much more definitely.
Don't forget to switch custom function 0 for the new screen. I think
that is the number. Check your manual.
