Have both lenses and a monopod, used the 100-400 with the monopod with great
success, but have never used the 28-135 with it, it will probably work fine
also since you still won't be able to hold the monopod/lens combination
"perfectly" still, so the IS rate sensors will still pick up small movement
to work.
In fact, there has been a number of postings in the past couple of years of
people forgetting to turn off IS while these lenses are mounted on tri-pods,
and everything still worked properly.
