Christina,

I use the 35-350L professionally and I consider it a very valuable
workhorse. It's big and heavy and the push-pull zoom is annoying because
it can slow down your response time if you're looking for key-moment
shots, but I've gotten used to it and have learned to automatically
start pulling the zoom out to approximately where I want it even before
my eye hits the viewfinder. All things considered, I probaby use it more
consistently than any other lens I have. It's great for shooting parades
and the like - in fact for shooting almost anything if you're not sure
what focal length you'll need. I carry this lens on a ln and the 17-35L
on another 1n and can walk around pretty much all day and not feel too
burdened (and I'm a 5'5" averagely-built female). I don't use this lens
for sports or pretty much anything indoors (it's just not fast enought
for me) or for anything that's set up (portraits, features, etc.). In
other words, Christina, this is a great lens if you need it. But I'm
sure than even second-hand, you'd have to make a fairly impressive
investment, so I'd advise you to consider your needs before you shell
out some big bucks for it. THEN, if you decide you still want it, do all
the testing, etc., that I'm sure everyone who's ever bought a
second-hand lens would advise you to do.

All the best,

Robbi
