This offers a different 10x mag range and from all the tests a similar performance (admittedly no wide end, but the money saved could buy a 17-35 ex as well for real coverage). There have been good reports in the U.K. photo press. These two lenses are exactly my dilema atthe monent. In favour of the 35-350 is the assured quality and the 72mm filter size with limited wide angle, but £1600 new - wow!!! The Sigma goes all the way up to 500mmm which I realy would use a lot, but am 86mm filter thread means a limited and expensive filter selection, and also a gap between 35mm and 50mm (no grat loss for me though). But I can get both the 50-500 and the 17-35 for the same price as the 35-350 Canon (both new and secondhand). This is indeed a difficult one!!!
