Qflash is a very good choice but it is not small. I have one and use it with
both medium format and with an adapter for EOS, but you do not get E-TTL
only TTL (ATTL?).
Other choice is a Metz 40MZ3i which can work with proper adapter on any
camera and with the standard shoe operate as an auto flash on any older
non-TTL camera.
