PK,
I believe what Vesa is saying is that on some Canon bodies (my EOS 3 does)
4.5 is read as 1/2 and 1/3 stop depending on how you have the camera set.
If I have the EOS 3 set to display 1/2 stops then 4.5 is what's indicated as
a half stop, same for 1/3 stops, 4.5 is displayed for 1/3 stop. 4.9 is not
on the display.
I posted this question some time ago to the list, as to why Canon does not
follow the standard convention. Also my Nikon handbook says that 4.8 is 1/2
stop.
There are a several of instance where this occurs on the EOS 3. One is
F12.5 (1/3 stop) and F13.5 (1/2 stop). The EOS 3 displays these both as
F13. Also F28 (2/3 stop) is displayed as F29. There also a few others. I
have a copy of the Nikon Handbook chart on the web:
http://users.ev1.net/~dbdors/f_stops.html
The real question is, what is the aperture, when the EOS body is set to
display half stops. Is it actually 4.8 (4.9) but displaying 4.5 or is it
4.5.
