I used to have the EOS5. From the beginning on (I
bought it used) I only got realatively view rolls out
of a battery. Finally, I sold it. If you have the same
problem and want to stick with it there are two
solutions:
1) get the battery pack
2) I heard about a battery problem before. It seems
that the main problem is not that the EOS 5 drains
that much current but that the level to indicate an
empty battery is to hight. Canon can adjust that level
so that you get more rolls out of a battery.
Personally, I would go for the battery pack. For
almost all cameras my hands seem to be too big to get
a perfect grip. This seemed to be even more true then
for the camera I have now. The additional grip
definitelly does improve handling quite a lot.
