I had the same problem with my ef 24/2.8. I sent it to Canon Canada and
they replaced the auto focus drive (If I remember correctly). Total
cost was around $110.00 Canadian funds plus the cost of shipping it to
them.

Hello List,
I've been using my Cosina 100mm macro lens for a few years now. Since a
week or two it seems to
have an intermitted problem :
when setting the aperture to f/22, the aperture stays that way, even
after taking the picture.
I have the impression that the
motor, driving the aperture mechanism, is failing. I mean it closes the
aperture but doesn't
re-open it. (Even when I take the
lens of the (50E) body the aperture stays 'closed')
Did someone of the honorable list members had the same problem in the
past ? If so what was the
solution?
