Thank you for your question. The EOS List lives on questions
and answers.

Unsubstantiated rumours on other places abound about an image
stabilized f/2.8 telezoom with perhaps longer range.  Perhaps
if you bought a used EF 70-200 f/2.8, you could always resell
it at much the same price.  

Canon publishes a FlashWork brochure that you might be able
to get from your local Canon retailer or by telephoning Canon.
Unfortunately, it has no details of the new 420EX flash which
can be a Wireless ETTL slave to the 550EX.
