I have not noticed any noise with my 7 when using with my 100-440 or 600 but I tend to treat the camera as a attachment to the lens. I don't carry the camera but rather the lens with camera folowing along. My camera dealer did tell me he had a elan 7 returned with the lens mount broken off when the user tried to twist a telephoto lens 90 degrees without loosening the tripod collar. While I feel the camera is well built it is not the most rugged camera in the stable.
