Minolta makes a "monocular adapter" which, when attached to a manual 
focus MC/MD lens in place of a camera, converts the lens into a 
pretty good spotting scope.

Having one of these, I'm interested in converting it to Canon EOS 
mount.

I'm rethinking the "no electrical connections required" part, though. 
Might it be possible to tell an IS lens to turn on image 
stabilization by applying voltage to one or more pins on the lens? 
I'd not want to experiment randomly on my new 100-400 IS though!
