Bob,

This is sad to hear. Oddly, I just had mine recently
(last November) upgraded to be fully functional with
the specs of the Elan7e. What makes this even more
unusual is that Sigma still lists this lens as one of
the models that they'll upgrade for free on their
website. Mine had worked perfectly prior to the
upgrade with my ElanIIe and I just upgraded it to take
advantage of the free offer and to accommodate my
anticipation of acquiring a 7e in the near future.
This may be a stretch, but possibly the upgrade chips
to the IIe and the 7e are different, and they may be
out of the IIe chips, and but still have plenty of the
7e variety?

I had mine upgraded by Sigma Corp. of America in NY.
Who did you send yours to?

It's a great performer of a lens, BTW, and I hope the
upgrade to the 7e specs will allow me to enjoy it for
several more years to come.

Cheers,
Cian
