Pierre,
I have used the 308 Proball for couple years and like it a lot.
Probably nothing special here but in case you don't know,
the handle is spring loaded and can be moved to many positions.
The biggest lens I have used on it is the EF100-400 zoom and haven't
noticed any problems in stability. On the other hand I haven't used
this lens with other ballheads much enough to compare.
I use the Manfrotto hex plates and though large, the flat one is
not so disturbing especially because it seems that I could cut the
rear-pointing "spike" without affecting the locking mechanish, to
make it better fit in my camera bag with camera body.
One good feature is that I can attach the camera on a normal tripod
with screw only (without removing the plate) because there is a
1/8" hole with threads in the plate. I don't know about Kirk.
My frient is using the Novoflex system and he has to use pliers
to remove the mini-plate before he can use a normal tripod.
I'm also going to get the new Manfrotto 055PRO.
Has anyone yet had any experience with it?
Vesa
