Going back a bit in the thread re a good lens for sports I thought that the
IS feature did not work well for action photography? I am in the middle of
trying to decide if I need to upgrade my setup for soccer and volleyball.
Currently I have an Elan IIe (for me ECF works fine, even with my pop
bottle lenses) with a 70-200/2.8, a 300 f4/non-IS, and a Tamron 1.4x pro
TC. The 300 and the elan did okay last fall but I just have this nagging
thought that the pics are not quite what they could be.

I have to wait until this fall to see how the 70-200/2,8 does at night (our
field is not lit up very well). I have read that the EOS-3 is particularly
fast for action, so I am considering upgrading the elan. I am trying to
figure out which flash to get (550ex/Metx 54Mz whatever/??) and of course
am always on the lookout for lenses :).

Anyway, back to the original thought re the IS function and sport action.
How does it perform re soccer or other fast action sports?
