The Canon USA warranty is one (1) year. There are extended warranties from 
Canon and from Mack Camera (see http://www.mackcam.com/) which add length 
to the original, but do not add extra coverage. Mack also offers an 
"Ultimate" warranty which covers everything including operator errors like 
immersion & impact damage. The Elan series is not significantly more robust 
than the Rebels, but the Rebel is sufficiently well made for most amateur use.
