Dear EOS list members,

I've just begun to understand how the Canon AIM system works, no thanks
to either the EOS 1v or 3 manuals.

What I'm totally in the dark about is how the evaluative metering
handles a scene when manual focusing.

Specifically, does the currently selected focusing point (though not
necessarily being utilized) still weight the exposure or does the meter
simply attempt to balance the entire scene?

Also, does the AE lock function much like selecting a focusing point
(when using AF) in that the metering is weighted most for the spot you
AE-locked onto, then weighting the adjacent points, and finally
adjusting to a minor degree for the remaining meter segments?

Forgive me if my question is stated poorly, as the exact nature of my
question is kind of complicated.

I've been scouring any sources of information on this subject I can
find, but haven't found anything specifically relating to the
combination of evaluative metering used in conjunction with manual
focus.

Thank you very much for any assistance you can offer.

Rusty
