Well, a virus can do all the things that any other
program possibly could do. It can scan your address
book and automatically send an (offending) email to
each person in your address book. Or it can
automatically respond to an incoming email (similar to
an auto-response when you are on vacation) without
your knowledge. Or it can scan an incoming email for
keywords and send an email back (with a virus) that
seems to be related to the incoming email (considering
the keywords that have been found). If the recipient
writes back the virus can figure that out and send an
appropriate message back. A virus could also possibly
modify itself and change behaviour to make it more
difficult for anti-virus programs to detect it. What a
virus can do and how it duplicates itself is only
limited by the imagination of its creater (or the
inteligence that the creator did give to it). Anyway,
that's my last message about that off-topic message.
The only reason I respond to this list is because lots
of people seem to accuse the original sender without
considering/knowing that they also might get or in the
past have gotten a virus and send it out without their
knowledge (the virus might remove itself if he thinks
he made enough harm).
