Canon now has the 300mm f/4L EF IS USM. They HAD a 300mm f/4L EF USM (Canon 
USA # C218342) which is discontinued. It had 8 elements in 7 groups; 77mm 
filter size; weighed 2.9 lbs; came with tripod collar & close focused to 
8.2'.  the last time we had one it was "grey market" and sold new for US 
$829.95.
