Yes, 

�  The first letter "B" is for "bayonet" if no B then it's a screw-on or
clamp on.
�  The number indicates the filter size 52 = 52mm
�  The last letter indicates variations

So, a BW-52C is a bayonet hood for a wide-angle lens with a 52mm filter
thread.  The last letter "C" indicates it is for a 24mm lens (A=35mm,
B=28mm), specifically the FD 24mm f/2.8 (maybe the f/2.0 as well).

But what the heck does an ET-65II hood fit (EF 100-300mm f/5.6 (L))? 
How 'bout an ET-62II (EF 70-210mm f/4).  What the heck does the 65 and
the 62 mean?  What's the difference between an "II" and a not "II?"
