Well, you'll get a lot of recommendations for the EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6
IS lens. I just bought one myself, and I'm very happy with it so
far. The optics are very good, and the Image Stabilization is a great
feature. The range of focal lengths makes it a very useful lens, and
it's often the only one I take out. Handles really nicely, too.
I also recently bought another lens that I'm thrilled with, a Tamron
20-40mm f/2.7-3.5 super wide zoom. Very sharp and fast lens, and the
40mm end is useable as a "normal" lens. If you want real wide angle,
then something in the 20-35 or 17-35 range is worth considering.
You don't mention your budget, but I extrapolated from your 28-105
choice that you're in the medium price range. All the above fit that
category, being in the $450-650 range.
