Hi Tom,
RC-1 cannot do:
1) Reliably release from behind the camera
2) Continuous release
3) Single-press Auto-exposure bracket sequence (needs 3 presses)
4) AF/AE lock (needs a homebrew AE-lock plug, ask for more details)
5) Two-push MLU release (only a one push MLU with 2 second timer)
6) 10 second self timer (only 2 second self timer)
7) B-mode release for bulb (only a two push T-mode release)
RS-60E3 cannot do:
1) distant release (unless using a non-Canon extension cord)
2) One-push MLU release (only a two-push MLU release)
3) 2 second self timer (only 10 second self timer)
4) T-mode release for bulb (Only a B-mode push and hold/lock release)
Cheers
Julian Loke
P.S. Did you reach a decision to replace your Rebel? With digital?
