Hello,

I have scoured through the Elan 7 manual to find out what happens
to AE lock when C.Fn 4 is set to 1. I finally figured out that
unless I hold down the * button (for focus) while I press the
shutter release halfway, the camera will AE lock on the center
focusing point. I need to hold the * button while depressing the
shutter if I want the camera to meter for the selected focus
point in its mysterious E-TTL way. But to my knowledge, this
little fact is not mentioned explicitly anywhere in the manual.
The closest it gets to mentioning anything even remotely related
to it is on page 100:

> With Eye Control, if you press the AE lock button before pressing the
> shutter button halfway, the AE lock will be set at the center focusing point.

Is this the sort of fact that would be disclosed in a Magic
Lantern guide? Does anyone think it's ridiculous that it's not
included in the manufacturer's manual? I was about to chuck C.Fn
4-1 out the window before I figured out how to get it to work
like C.Fn 4-0.

thanks,
Chris
