Congrats Bob, I think you've got a very fine camera. I was going to make
the move to the 1v not long ago, but decided that the approximately 30% time
that I used ECF, it was invaluable to have, so stuck with the EOS 3. You
will enjoy also being able to use that extender now with some slower lenses
and still be able to AF at f/8 which was one of the selling points for me
when I initially decided on the --3. Regarding the PB-E2...mine has been in
a drawer since I got the BP-E1. I sorely miss the vertical controls but
found that the weight and how it added so much size and bulk to the EOS 3,
was becoming absolutely unacceptable so I'm living with the trade-off. One
additional nice feature about the BP-E1 is the way you can use the "reserve"
power supply in the form of the 2CR5 it also carries in addition to four
AAs. I had to switch over to the 2CR5 the other day when out in the field
and having forgotten to bring extra AAs (BTW, the EOS 3 is notorious for
reading a full battery charge...3 bars...and then a roll or so later zero
bars). Anyway the ability to make a quick switch to an alternative power
supply is a good Ace-in-the-hole I think.
Good shooting.
