Hi Andy,
I think there are two sounds. The first sound is the aperture
mechanism resetting itself. The second sound is the Image Stabilizer
locking mechanism centering itself.
The sounds are electro-mechanical. They also occur if you power
up the camera by inserting batteries. The power-on transient is
near 300mA.
