Subject: EOS [OFF TOPIC] the record industy (enough's enough)

Look, all the associated non-manufacturing costs of
creating a music recording are exactly the same for
vinyl or CD. When CDs were introduced the sold for
about twice what a vinyl record cost. No way was the
production cost that high. Today, the manufacturing
cost of CDs has fallen to near nothing, but CD prices
haven't fallen significantly., if at all.

I agree with Bob. When CDs first came out, the record industry said the prices were
higher because there were only a few CD pressing facilities and it was expensive to
press CDs. I would guess that it is now actually cheaper to make a CD than it is to
make a cassette or a vinyl LP. Yet the CD is still much more expensive to purchase
for consumers. If the record companies can make money selling a cassette for $10,
they can make money selling a CD for $10.
