OK, ignorant question here. The Canon 100, Sigma 105 and Tamron 90mm
macro lenses are all favorably reported in terms of sharpness anyway
by a number of individuals and chart reviews. Looking at their specs
on B&H - which I realize is just advertising - I see that the newer
Canon is listed as focusing much closer than the other two - all the
way down to 5.9" as opposed to about 11-12" for the non-Canon lenses.
Yet they are all graded as capable of 1:1 magnification. How can this
be? Is the Canon actually capable of more?
