In my experience, if the shutter is set at a speed
slower than max sync speed, it makes no difference
where the FP switch is set. The flash/camera combo
operate in normal sync mode.
The only reason I can see for setting it back is so
you don't accidently end up in HS sync mode when you
don't want to be.
