I have used this lens with both a 1.4x and 2x. While you lose a bit at
800mm, realize there is not another 80mm lens you can handhold at 1/125 or
1/250 seconds. So image quality may not be as good as say a 600mm F4 IS
with a 1.4x, but a good photo with decent resolution is a good photo, while
no photo is nothing.
