Gary,

I use NiMHs with good results. You're specifically warned not to
use Lithium Ions; NiCDs are too weak and hard to take care of to
be worthwhile; and "rechargeable" alkalines are really not
rechargeable and are even more difficult to take care of than
NiCDs. NiMHs are very easy to take care of and their capacity is
very good--usually twice as much or more than NiCDs.
