Both. You won't have AF, and manual focus at f/8 with a finder which lacks 
split image or a microprism focus aid is very difficult.  Your Elan 7 has 
Dpeth-of-field preview. Set your lens to f/8, hot the D-o-P button and see 
how gloomy the view is.
