I agree with Henry on this point. I had the Sigma 300/4 for a while, and it
is a nice lens. It's not as good as the Canon, but very good value since it
costs much less. If you feel that the 300 end is what you want, the Sigma
will probably offer better quality than any 75/100-300 lens. Most zooms are
sharpest in the 100-200 range, and less sharp the further to the 300 end you
get.
