Hi guys 'n gals -
I know some of you develop at least your own negs (I know many of you
print, but I'm just asking about film right now) and I'm getting back
into it after many years away.
I'm going to be taking a portrait class in the fall, and I decided I
would start with the film recommended by the instructor - T-Max 100 -
and I have been picking the brains of him and a few other photogs
around here. On injunction that I keep hearing, and that I do
remember from before is how improtant precise chemical temperature
control is.
So I've been trying to practice getting a bath in a deep tray under
temp control by running a hose into it from my bathtub faucet. Well,
it is an almighty bitch to get any precision this way, especially at
the 68 degrees recommended for D-76. That is such a small proportion
of hot water to cold, that the flow is very uneven. I AM getting the
hang of it, but boy I'm sure wasting a lot of water.
Any secrets? Could I use an aquarium heating unit?
Thanks
Ken Durling
