For sale: One Canon EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens with case, manual, box, caps, and original packing material. I am the original owner and I bought this lens new on 9/13/99. I was living in Japan at the time, and bought most of my Canon equipment there. The salesmen used to tell me Canon reserved their best equipment for the Japanese domestic market since the Japanese consumer is so sophisticated and picky but you know salesmen. I bought this lens before taking a trip to Africa, and used it as my mammal lens. I looked at and field tested several different 300mm lenses before I bought this one. None of the Canon zooms can even approach the sharpness of this lens. Believe me, the 100-300 f/5.6L is waaaaay too slow for animal work,and the 75-300 IS is too soft at the 300mm end. If you need the reach of the 300mm without compromising color or sharpness, this is your lens. Since I am not a pro, I baby my equipment since it seems to me to cost so much. I would have to describe the lens as mint condition. It has been protected by a filter since purchase, so the glass is immaculate, no marks on glass of any kind. There are no scratches on the lens barrel at all, the finish is intact. The hood and tripod foot have no scratches either. As I said, I take really good care of my equipment. Included with the lens is the original unused hard case, unused strap for the case, multilingual manual for the lens (including English), and both original lens caps. The lens hood is built-in. The only thing I can't find is the warranty card. But I can include a copy of the Japanese receipt if you want it(only my name, the lens serial number, and the "EF300/4IS" is in English, though). Everything will be packaged in the original box in the original packing materials.
