The two prices you mentioned are the current list prices (about) of
the other two 400mm lenses. Seeing as the DO is new technology, I'd be
willing to bet on the high end. Here's my *unscientific* reasoning:
since it's an f/4, that puts it right between the f/5.6 and the f/2.8,
so there's a minimum of let's say $3,000 right there. Add 30% for the
new technology, and we're talking a $4,000 lens. Oh, wait, it has IS.
How much more does the 300 f/4 with IS sell for than the one without?
I'm thinking about $600? So add that. I bet the EF 400mm f/4 DO IS
USM will sell for around $4,500.
