Julian,
Thanks for all the links on EOS autofocus.
Yes, I received the 1v and EF 28-135mm IS zoom and took it out for a "spin"
today.
The weight is okay (compared to New F-1 and motordrive) and the lense seems
wide in diameter but is short in length so the combination works fine. The
balance of the two is fine.
I put a roll of Ektachrome 100 in the camera and set it to Program so I
could get used to the camera focusing for me, the control placement and and
the tons of information in the viewfinder! This worked out fine.
For the next roll I have the camera set on manual. The first couple of
shots took a while because I am so used to turning an aperture ring for
exposure compensation. I miss that feeling!
The EF 28-135mm IS lense is almost the perfect lense for me. The maximum
aperture (f/5.6) at 135mm is a bit slow. I find minimum focusing distance
to be excellent for the shots taken so far.
This weekend my next step will be reading the owner's manuals and less
experimentation/trial and error.
I also got the EF 17-35mm lense. I haven't used it much yet - not for the
first roll of film but I was beginning to miss the wider angles towards the
end of the day.
This weekend should be fun!
Take Care,
Collyer
