I put my 420EX flash
> onto the off camera hot shoe and I can't get it off.
Try use a large rubber band between the locking ring and the pliers if you
had to, and make darn sure by looking at any markings on the base of the
flash to make sure you are turning the locking ring in the right direction.
Most importantly, don't force it (too much)
