Hi Chris, This was one of my concerns also when I switched to Canon last
year. 45 focus points seemed like overkill and looked like being awkward. I
must say that I haven't had a problem at all. The auto point selection of
both the 1v and 3 is good enough to use for most work. The centre point only
is the next most useful and this is as simple as pressing the button on the
1v for registered point memory. The selection of any points though is a lot
simpler than I would have expected and I now find I can do this on the run
without much thought. It still seems a bit like overkill, and I haven't used
most of the periphial focus points, but it doesn't get in my way either.
There's always the CF's to reduce selectable points as well. Still very
pleased I got the good deal and went with Canon.
Tim
