"IF" you dare to do this you can take the opportunity to enable eye control
for vertical shots. While the front cover is off you can block the movement
of the small balls in the two tilt sensors that tells the camera if it is
horizontal or vertical. I did this on my EOS5 several years ago and also made
a description that was put on someones private web server. Unfortunately I have
lost both the original description and the web server address.
The tilt sensor is a tube with a ball moving between the two ends. In one end
is a optical sensor that will detect the presence of the ball. What I did was
to put the two ends of a U shaped wire in two holes in the sensor tube to block
the movement of the ball. It is easily removable if you want to restore the it
to original status. You have to calibrate ECF in both directions.
Exposure is only affected in evaluative mode and only with extreme contrast
between foreground and sky. The largest exposure difference between horizontal
and vertical that I could see when experimenting was 1 stop with a bright white
cloud on one half of the viewfinder and a dark shadowy forest on the other half.
Mostly there is no difference at all.

So if you get tired of taking pictures you could always modify your equipment ;)
