Steve,

Can you show us the effect you're talking about?

I don't see any obvious problems with your aura_after.jpg
(using Netscape 4.7x).

I just have a few comments in general.

I assume your monitor is accurately calibrated.

Use the RAW mode to preserve the original image
quality (without adding JPEG artefacts) for further
image manipulation (e.g. Photoshop). I used the
Fine/Large setting at the beginning (mostly because
the microdrive will hold 800+ frames at that setting),
but now switched to RAW (still good for 300 exposures)
since it'll allow white point correction on the PC.
It basically doesn't really matter what "AWB" setting
you use during exposure.

Web colors will look different depending on which
browser you use. E.g. IE5 renders PNG files way
too dark, while colors look much more accurate
with Netscape 5.

I never noticed a moire problem as you described
with my D30 since I bought it in March. The count
is at approx. 6000 frames since then.

Once thing I noticed however, dust can get into
the optical path really easily. The resulting
dust shadows will look different depending on the
focal length and focussing used.

Perhaps you might want to check you camera in CCD
cleaning mode (last CF) and look for any obvious
trouble makers (dust, finger prints, ...)
