Wow--I never realized that the current model had such a long close-focus
distance. Ok, I admit that I'm not much interested in this lens in either
configuration--there are certainly other lenses I'd buy first if I had $1500 to
spare--but the notion of a 70mm lens with a minimum focusing distance of 1.5m
isn't all that appealing, in a way similar to that in which a zoom lens that at
the long end is 135/5.6 or 200/5.6 isn't very attractive.
