One of my friends wants to buy the F100 over F80 because the former has a
1/250 flash-sync speed. In the case of Canon, I would have to pass over the
Elan 7, if that's the case, and select the EOS 3 or EOS 5 instead.
How important is a higher flash-sync speed? To my mind, the only advantage a
faster flash-sync has, is in case of fill-in flash, where one can use a
faster lens. With a slower flash-sync, I must either slow down the shutter
by using an appropriate aperture, in which case the DOF is affected. Or, I
must use a filter to decrease the amount of light so that the camera uses a
1/125. If that's the only issue, I don't see why I should make a fuss over
flash-sync.
