kz, I think you're forgetting the whole idea behind capitalism. Of course they
want to sell more lenses. Of course they want to make more money. Without the
money, we don't get exciting new improvements (i.e., EOS1V). I don't know of
one business operation that exists where the business plan doesn't call for
making money.
I don't think they're trying to ruin photography as we know it. They have a
valuable technology that people want to buy so they sell it. If you don't find
a use for it or you think it harms your pictures, don't buy it.
