__If you are referring to C.Fn-7 (unless the firmware in my camera
is
buggy), no setting will disable the AF-Assist that occurs while
the camera
is hunting in AF. I just tested this on my Elan7 thinking I could
disable
that crazy thing once and for all._____
That's a step back, you can turn of the AF assist on the IIE.
I cannot imagine why you would- well, never mind, I can imagine
<g>.
__Ah well, manual focus without external flash will have to do.___
The external flash in the IIE will only do AF illum if you
*manually select* the center focusing point. *I* say it is a bug,
not a feature! Perhaps the 7 is diffo..
