Hi,

Tanks for all comments and congratulations.

There were some questions/comments for me to answer. Unfortunately I write this at
work and don't have the complete list of messages on this machine so I don't remember
who asked the different questions. Sorry.

1. Where did I get the lens?
Well, I live in Sweden and found the lens on a marketplace hosted by a company called
"Cyberphoto". I bought the lens private and payed ~580 US$ for it. Since Sweden is a
small country you have to keep a close eye on the used gear market if you want
something special. At this marketplace I've seen 3 300/4.0L's announced in about 1
month. They all sold within a few days after being listed. Prices seem to be 500 - 600
US$, which isn't too bad considering that a new one i close to 1400 US$ here.

2. What will I use the lens for?
I like to be out in the nature and may try to catch some wild animals on film. First
real use for it, however, is a racing event in 2 weeks. It's the final round of the
Swedish Touring Car Championship. Should be quite handy, in this case either on a
monopod or handheld. Also, I've been to South Africa twice and hope to be able to go
back there sometime again for a longer stay in a Game Reserve. This should make a good
lens for that purpose as well (perhaps with a 1.4X TC, on a tripod of course).

3. Comments regarding qualities of glass.
I am well aware that non-L-lenses can be very good. I also recently bought the 50/1.8
II. Plastic, but you can't beat its "sharpness per cost". I also have the 28-105 which
isn't bad. My future plans are to save up for a 70-200/4.0L and a 1.4x TC, after that
maybe something in the more wide angle area.

Bye

Jonas
