Further to my stiff focusing ring problem on the EF100-400, something else is now acting up. While the stiff manual focusing ring was temporarily "loosened" by the Canon customer service rep. on Friday by working it back and forth (I wished he hadn't done that), it was still a little gritty, but the AF remained working, so I decided to continue using it through the airshow weekend. I had gone through about 6 rolls of film (about the 12th roll on this 2CR5 battery) when the EOS-3 camera locked up with flashing BC in the LCD on the top, while not expecting this this early on this battery (I usually get easily 15 to 20 rolls), it wasn't too surprising either as I had been AI Servo focus tracking with the IS turned on all the time. I quickly put in another new battery and started shooting again. Towards 1/2 way through the 2nd roll of film, the IS appeared to have problem tracking the panning motion, the image in the viewfinder radically glitched both horizontally and vertically twice before the view finder went blank as I pressed the shutter (causing me to miss some great shots of the Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team!), the dreaded BC sign flashed again on the top LCD display. Now I was surprised, only on the second roll? I had to turn off the camera and turn it back on again to reset it. The shots taken after that appeared to be fine. Any thoughts?
