You CAN set DOF preview to a button with the 5!
Just set CF 11, that will link DOF preview to the AE-lock button (*-button). It
will always work, in vertical mode and also with ECF turned off completely. It
does also work with ECF turned on. You can then choose yourself if you want to
use ECF to select DOF-preview or the *-button.
