It's actually fairly amazing that this new version is found to be sharper
than the previous 70-200/2.8 L, which was arguably one of the best lenses in
this class. If what is presented here is true, than some of us may need to
start questioning to what end will we go to acquire perfection? How much
sharpness do we ultimately need?
I can argue that with this new IS lens, some of us may no longer see the
need to move up to medium format, if we can get the same degree of
enlargement upon a 35mm frame as produced by this lens.
Additionally, does a 1.4x with this new 70-200 then reasonably replace the
300/4 IS in most users' bags?
I'm now torn between the 100-400 and this beauty...
