"Friends,

Has there been any discussion as to which is the better 14mm f/2.8 lens,
the Sigma or the Tamron? I notice that the Sigma is a few hundred
dollars less and has a better Photodo rating. How about things other
than price & image quality: build quality, compatibility, and other
things? Thanks.

I need a wider lens for my D30. It won't see a lot of use, but I still
want good optics and quality.

Although I do not know neither Sigma nor Tamron I do remember the tests
issued from reputed french magazn Chasseur d'Images where Sigma had a
overall better result. As it is the cheaper, the choice seems very easy. I
have the Canon 14 mm but it is not, I confess, a reasonable buy as far as
you do not use it very often. I'm doing that more and more than before with
the D30 where it is a 23 mm equivalent lens. Probably the Sigma, I used one
with good output, is the best buy.

Kind regards

Flix
