Tom, I avoid flash photography as much as possible. The one area of my work that requires it is for outdoor fill with a variety of subjects. I have a Stofen Omnibounce fitted to my 420 and 550 pretty much all the time and find that when combined with a -0.3 or -0.6 flash comp I get consistent natural looking images. I only take it off when the distance to subject increases and I get closer to maximum flash output.
